- 09:19 Good morning! #
- 11:54 Just finished leading an educational chat with a dozen or so sex educators about the pros and cons of clit/penis pumps. #
- 14:55 They are filming a movie on my block. Complete with faux rain and a British mail box... what the heck are they filming? #
- 15:47 @theJBRU Oh that's a good idea! Thanks. :) #
- 15:49 I'm swimming in work & home duties. Sent the laundry out to be done. Seems like a waste of $ but there is no time before I leave town again. #
- 16:55 @zappos I just recieved two pairs of shoes from you. LOVE love love them. Thanks. :) #
- 16:56 just purchased train ticket to DC. Going to a conference this weekend. Hotel has a pool! #
- 22:21 Home from class & gym. Proud of my dog who dropped (on command) two found chicken bones he found on the dark streets of NYC. Good boy. #
- 23:24 Oh geez... here's a new movie about me: tinyurl.com/5twaza #
Just wondering. Anyone knowing more about the story behind the saying "Don't teach Granny to suck eggs." ? Where is came from, for instance.
Thanks
Thanks
The Canadians have it right. No 'terrorism' arrests, no calls to social services for 'child abuse', no petty political bullshit. Just respect and care for an honest mistake.
My kudos to Air Canada and the airport management in Vancouver, BC. Way to go, guys.

Hello Linguaphiles,
As someone who speaks moderate Mandarin/ lived with family in Taiwan 2 years, I have a question to ask speakers of English and Mandarin regarding the general tone and effect a language takes when translated.
For example, in history books and on TV, when English-based media translate something from Mandarin, that phrase always sounds overly poetic, (tiny example, the Hundred Flowers campaign), when, in Mandarin such a poetic, lyrical effect was not always intended; it is something rather more inherent in the vocabulary and means of expression.
I wonder if this characteristic makes the language seem more 'oriental and exotic' than it is, if you see what I mean.
Conversely, I wonder how English sounds to a Mandarin speaker when translated back to Mandarin: clunky, unexpressive?
How about cases with other languages? I know Italian -> English translation of tourist pamphlets always sound really verbose...
Sorry if this post is a bit unfocused, I hope I got the gist of the question across!

I'm so exhausted. I'm in LA working on a John Fitzgerald Gwen Media production called "Sisters" with Berlin. The shoot has been going really well. Its been a lot of fun. The character I'm playing is much different from myself and it is much different from the pain slut or service submissive that I normally portray. It's closer to a delightfully perverted horror film in which I play a very young and innocent sister who is duped into being bound, tormented and sold into slavery. Its been a lot of fun. I've been wanting to work with John Fitzgerald for sometime so I was pretty excited to be cast in this video and can't wait to see how it turns out. He does beautiful things with lighting. Last night Berlin and I went to yoga after work, grabbed some chow and by the time I answered a couple emails it was 1:30. 6 hours later I was up and at em' to start the day again. Tonight we shot kind of late so I grabbed some dinner headed back to Speigler's and have been trying to catch up on emails but I'm totally over whelmed. i need several hours to sit down and catch up. I did book me and my loves birthday get away to Santa Cruz and arranged for a convertible. So reservations are made. I just have some more work to do on the house, the gallery, presents to finish preparing and wrapping and a performance art piece to decide on and prepare for Annie and Beth's wedding on Saturday. It's going to be a busy weekend. I'm hoping to stay in SF next week to catch up on everything. I have a personal assistant now who has really been helping out but there is stil alot I need to take care of. I'm a tired kitten. Time for bed before I start another day. Oh and if you haven't checked out the changes to www.madisonbound.com you should check it out. I've been doing a lot of work on it.

Anyone know of any IPA descriptions of the Englishes spoken in North American movies from the 30s to the 50s? Any leads or key words even would be useful... Or youtube videos from particularly poignant examples. I can just listen, but detailed descriptions might be useful. Any acting resources for speech accent learning available anywhere?
Thanks. :D
Thanks. :D

We left around 11 am on Sunday. Between the pee stops, the grab a bite for the road, gas, etc., we arrived at about 8:30. We had dinner at the restaurant at the resort, then settled in for the night. It was too many hours for Gage. He was bored out of this mind then went apeshit with all the stimulus. He was very difficult at dinner and is at that age where he just pushes, and pushes, and pushes.
Monday was a much better day. We had breakfast at the same restaurant and he was substantially better even though I thought that hockey pucks were far more pliable than the pancakes that be brought them. Then we drove into town (Puerto Penasco) and wandered around a bit before going grocery shopping. We got fresh queso, tortillas right off the machine, and a number of other goodies. The tomatoes and onions are so much better down here as is the yogurt, butter, cream, milk and eggs. Why is it that I have to go out of the country to get decent dairy products?? The egg yolks here are orange rather than the pale yellow that we get in the States. Not only that, but the darned things can sit on the counter and are perfectly fine. The pig is better too - be it adobo, chops, chorizo or bacon.
Got back around 4, hit the pool, took turns watching him, then came in for dinner and watched Ant Bully before they went to bed. We have free wifi in the lobby as you could tell from last night's post.
Today was a full day at the beach. Gage was hysterically funny. He likes the water and has picked up a million shells. Most of which we have to leave here, but that's fine. There was an extremely low tide wich meant far better shell hunting. He spent most of his time chasing the birds, seaguls, grackles, little sparrow, doesn't matter. He's hellbent on catching one. Yeah sure. But chase away he did. We followed a bit behind him, letting him have his head and independence where possible. While walking about we found a rather large conch shell which happened to be inhabited. So after a short walk and a few pics, we put the little feller back along with a much smaller hermit crab living in one of smaller more triangular conch-type shells (surely someone knows what these are called).
I'm managing to relax although I think that I managed to burn my head a bit. My short term memory isn't what it used to be and what I remember is having hair. I really need to remember to travel with a hat or at least a hanky of some sort.
Tomorrow will be more of the same - beach, lounge, nap, apply aloe x10, eat, drink, read, day dream (?)
I really needed this vacation. To level out all of the erotic horror, the next book is "The History of God". Tee hee.

Things have been fun and productive, as usual!
Yesterday, my friend Ashley Renee and I shot with Ed Fox.
I really enjoy shooting with Ashley. We have known her for
years and we have only shot together a handful of times, but
we always have a great time on set together. I've included a
picture from the set where Ed had me playing with my hair
which will be going up shortly on my site.
Ed is definately a foot and leg man and I share his
interests! One of the first things I check out on a chick is her butt :)
Today, my Master, Damon Pierce and I shot solo scenes
of me doing some very cool and dirty things with some
kegel exercises :)
Off to pack!
-Claire.
