No one who ever changed anything was afraid of failure, or looking stupid in front of a bunch of people.
Off to Charlottesville for the day (for the first time since writing and performing DRIZZLE) - hope you're all enjoying the Wednesday.

- 12:09 Writing more sex toy descriptions. Not a bad job. #
- 13:26 RT @V6ughn: @loveUduckydoo ever run outta adjectives? -----> NEVER! #
- 13:29 Done with today's descriptions. Good thing. Cuz I'm under the weather today. :( I need soup. #
- 19:30 Using my fried brain to sit and do mindless work like cleaning out my old laptop and ensuring that my new laptop has everything it needs... #
- 22:18 Just made plans to have a get-away with the husband in April. New Orleans. #
- 23:01 Ok. I was mildly effective today. Despite being under the weather. Perhaps tomorrow will bring great things? I think so. Nite shark feet. #
I've been wanting to post here for quite some time, but the truth is I'm a bit embarrassed.
I seem to have hit some sort of low-level plateau learning Turkish and I would be eternally grateful to anyone who could recommend some materials or - wonder of wonders - new strategies/techniques.
( That's not the embarrassing part, though. )
Does anyone have any recommendations? I hate the idea that I'm wasting my time here by not taking advantage of +60 million native speakers!

Don't trust Snopes
One would think an entire think-tank university staff is behind Snopes.
Not so. It's a couple — husband and wife.
Their opinions are considered bible by countless who check out "the facts"
by going to Snopes.com. These countless include college profs,
Congresspersons, the National Review writers, and masses climbing all over the
grassroots.

Obama makes first move to undermine 2010 elections
GETS FORMER SEQUOIA CO. VP NAMED AS ADVISER TO U.S. ELECTION ASSISTANCE COMMISSION
by John Charlton
(Dec. 21, 2009) — Earlier this month, Obama made his first official move to corrupt and undermine the 2010 elections. The move consisted in the little noticed appointment of a technical adviser to the Technical Guidelines Development Committee (TGDC) of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC).

1. A short confession: I am currently unable to listen to any music at all by either Elvis Costello or Bob Dylan. I'm angry at the way they both pretend to be misanthropic when they're really mostly misogynistic, and I can't un-hear what I hear in their music now.
2. I want a t-shirt that reads simply, "Your Tax Dollars At Work."
3. Am I reading this link right? That is, my story "Dead Nude Girls" was part of a lit discussion group session...alongside Hemingway's "The Killers"? OMG, how cool is that? It certainly helps to dispel any lingering notion that only a couple dozen people ever read what I write, wherever it appears.

Christmas planning being what it is, my partner in the kitchen for Christmas Day and I decided we must go food shopping in the city for gourmet delights.
So tomorrow we plan a late breakfast, braving 101 post rush hour (we hope) and then onto Patisserie Phillippe for hazelnut Bouche Noel & truffles, Bi-Rite grocery for cheeses, organic veggies and other grocery items with (amusingly) a stop at Dark Garden corsets in between to pick up a re-sized corset for the fellow kitchen goddess.
We have had such fun food planning, as she said its almost like scene prep for a big scene.
This morning my Fedex arrived from D'Artagnan with pates, vegetable terrine and a duck confit for the kitties (yes, they are spoiled). Later in the week comes picking up organic turkey breast and prime rib roasts and a few other things.
I am so looking forward to hosting Christmas again, I missed it last year. Its family and orphans so if you're local you've probably already had your invite to dinner and/or our open house. If not, do let me know.

So my husband and I are planning on moving to the San Francisco Bay Area sometime next year, in January, February, or March 2010. We are looking for a studio or one bedroom apartment and these are some of the questions we’ve had for people who live in the area.
From the research we’ve done thus far, West Portal, Noe Valley, the Marina, Northern Sunset, and Richmond seem to be areas that we would be interested in living. What’s the culture like in these areas? Which areas are more commercial and which areas are more locally focused? Generally speaking, is rent cheaper in any of these areas more so than others, and which areas have more available apartments? We were also interested in the North Beach and Russian Hill.
I am curious as to what you can tell me about Oakland and Berkeley. Are there any areas within Oakland and Berkeley that are less commercial and more local, but also near the BART? Can you tell me anything about the Lake Merritt area?
For locals, where are the best beaches to go to in the Bay Area? What ones are the most popular, and where can you find some that are less busy?
Finally, I’m interested in knowing if anyone has any insights into the job market at non-profits. I just completed my MA in International Human Rights, and I would really like to find a job at a non-profit, particularly focused in poverty alleviation and economic development in Asia, but I’m open to other non-profits too!
Well, thanks ahead of time!
